About This Blouse
The Victorian Lace High-Neck Blouse is where historical romance meets modern dressing. We studied original Edwardian shirtwaists in the V&A archives to get the proportions exactly right: the leg-of-mutton sleeves are full at the shoulder, tapering dramatically to a narrow, buttoned cuff. The high neck is not stiff but softly structured, with a delicate row of covered buttons at the back. Pintuck pleats run vertically down the front bodice, and panels of fine cotton lace are inset at the yoke and cuffs. It sounds elaborate, but on the body, it reads as effortlessly bohemian.
Fit & Silhouette
Semi-fitted through the body with a slight peplum at the waist. High band collar with back button closure. Leg-of-mutton sleeves (full at shoulder, narrow at cuff). Pintuck pleated front. Lace insets at yoke and cuffs. Fully lined in cotton voile for opacity.
Materials
Outer: 100% cotton poplin. Lace: 100% cotton. Lining: 100% cotton voile. Buttons: mother-of-pearl. Machine wash cold, delicate cycle. Hang to dry. Iron on low while slightly damp, avoiding the lace panels.
Styling Note
The tension is the magic. Wear it with high-waist black trousers and an oversized blazer for a gallery-opening look. Or tuck it into raw-hem jeans with boots for an effortless weekend outfit. A locket or a simple pendant on a long chain sits perfectly inside the high neckline.
